DiCon Fiberoptics ships first MEMS-based Secure Switching Units to Boeing for P-8A Program

RICHMOND, CA - April 18, 2007 - DiCon Fiberoptics, a leader in MEMS-based fiberoptic switches has shipped its first Secure Switching Units to Boeing as part of the United States Navy’s P-8A program. These switches are avionics-grade, all-optical, fiberoptic switches based on DiCon’s proven MEMS technology.

“DiCon is pleased to announce our achievement of the major milestone of manufacturing and delivering the initial Secure Switching Units to Boeing, continuing our tradition of supporting military and avionic customers and applications,” said Robert Schleicher, VP of Business and Product Development for DiCon. As part of the program with Boeing, DiCon is also pursuing AS9100 certification and expects to complete certification in late 2007.

The P-8A is a long-range anti-submarine warfare, anti-surface warfare, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance aircraft, designed for diverse maritime missions and intended to replace the U.S. Navy’s current fleet of P-3C aircraft. Initial Operational Capability is scheduled for 2013, with first delivery scheduled for 2009.
