With over three decades of expertise, DiCon’s thin-film coating legacy began with using E-beam chambers to make anti-reflection (AR) coating for fiber optic collimators. During the late 1990’s telecom boom, DiCon pioneered ion-beam sputtering equipment for hard-to-make DWDM filters and developed an intelligent, in-house optical monitoring system for producing complex spectrums. Today, DiCon maintains its leadership in coating through continuous investments in equipment and refinement in processes. Our US operation is ITAR registered and able to support government & military programs from beginning to end. Below is a list of thin film coating spectrums DiCon produces regularly:
Wide & Narrow Bandpass
Longpass & Shortpass
Multi-band Wavelength Division
High Reflectivity & Beam Splitter
Gain Flattening
MEMS (1999 - Now)
Over 3 Million MEMS Mirrors Deployed in the Field
A pioneer in optical innovation, DiCon was among the first to invest in the MEMS technology in the late 1990s. Our patented MEMS mirror structures, proprietary MEMS chip fabrication processes, and superior optical designs have established DiCon’s MEMS components as the industry’s gold standards. DiCon delivers with unmatched performance, durability, and reliability. By leveraging our dedicated, in-house California HQ based MEMS fabrication facility alongside a seasoned optical design team, DiCon can execute from concept to perfect result in no time. This vertical integration capability allows DiCon to excel in high-volume commercial production while simultaneously supporting many specialized programs in the field of: optical communication, AI data center networking, aerospace, maritime, quantum technology, etc.

Dense Matrix LED (2002 - Now)
A supercharged point-source-like LED platform
In 2002, DiCon embarked on a new journey and joined the lighting industry as it transitioned to LED. With the goal to create another unique technology platform and in-depth understanding of micro optics, we set our mission to design a LED source that is not just efficient in terms of lumens-per-watt, but also efficient in terms of delivery. (In another word, only send the right spectrum to where it needs to be sent to.) After more than 5 years of relentless R&D effort, DiCon released a revolutionary Dense Matrix LED platform that packed a large amount of LED chips into a tiny area on a multi-layer metallic PCB carrier. The Dense Matrix LED is a bright point-like source that can be made into a high performing lighting fixture for projecting tunable-color lights to desired targets using only simple secondary optics.
Building upon this platform, DiCon developed 3 world renowned lighting brands serving 3 distinct professional markets.
Kessil (est. 2010) - for aquarium, living wall, and zoom animals
Fiilex (est. 2013) - for movie production, broadcast TV, and events
Cielux (est. 2023) - for architectural lighting (museum, gallery, and theaters)
